I want to download the beta drivers from Nvidia for windows vista 32, but i am a little bit confuse about the the numbers nvidia uses for the version. It has drivers for vista x86 and x64, I guessed x64 would be the 64 version of vista but is x86 for the 32 version of vista ?

vista version
Yes

thanks
but it's funny to use a higher number for a lower version.

The x86 designation is taken from the Intel line of CPUs, 8086, 80286, 80386, & 80486. There never was an official 80586 or 80686 although the latest version of the CPUs are sometimes called that. The x64 was used to designate the 64-bit extensions AMD added to make a 64-bit CPU that also retained the old 80486 instruction set and compatibility. For awhile you would see 86_x64 to indicate the CPU followed the old 8086 line versus the Itanium being designated IA64 because it had a different, incompatible instruction set.

I am a bit confused now, lol. I have an AMD 64 machine but I installed Beta 2x86.... If i try the Beta 2x64 disc it says wrong version.
Anyway, my nvidia drivers don't work well on it and I wish I could uninstall it now but it seems impossible without major work...
